What is
the purpose of an EPC ?
The Energy
Performance Certificate is a current legal requirement which informs the
potential buyers or tenants of a property how energy efficient the home
is. The Energy Efficiency Rating is a measure of the overall efficiency of a
home and is represented on a scale of A-G , with ‘A’ being the highest score
and ‘G’ being the lowest. The higher the rating the more energy efficient
the home is and the lower the fuel bills will be.

are you concerned about the rating of
your property ?
The graph is similar to the labels found
on fridges etc., but the 0 - 100 scale has been set so that it won't
need to be adjusted in the foreseeable future. this means that to
get an A rating the property has to have extremely low energy costs
to the degree that is only currently achieved by properties with
solar panels, photovoltaics, wind turbines, heat recovery systems,
very high levels of insulation and/or low heat loss through
ventilation.
At the moment the average property
in the UK is achieving a D
band rating.
